To start creating your lead capture form, select "form builder" in the left hand menu when you're on the main dashboard.

When you're on the next screen, click the green button labeled "create new opt-in form" on the upper right hand side of the screen.

When you click the button, a screen will open. The middle option to capture contact information will be displayed by default.

There, name your KyForm and choose the website you want it to work on. If you've not added a website, you'll need to do so in the settings. Use this help doc to guide you through the process. 

When you're done, click the green button at the bottom that says "Create KyForm." It'll take you to the next screen in the process. 

On the next page, you have two options:

  1. Choose opt-in type
  2. Choose template. 

Choose opt-in type

Inline standard: This is an inline embed form that appears within your content.
Full standard: This is an inline emebed that appears within your contnet but it takes up the entire screen.
Modal: This is the standard popup that appears on top of your content and interrupts visitors while they're browsing.
Full Modal: This is a full screen popup.
Inline float: This is a top floating bar that appears at the top of the screen.
Slide in: This popup that appears at the bottom corner of the screen.
Mobile: This if a full screen popup that only appears on mobile devices. 

Choose an opt-in type to be displayed on your website. 

Choose Template

Here, you can choose which template you'd like to customize for your opt-in form. How it appears here is how the email capture form will appear in your opt-in. 

Choose a template and click save and conitnue to be taken to the next page. 

On the next page, you'll be taken to the settings tab.

Here, you can rename your opt-in form and set the exit and success cookie duration.
The exit cookie duration will determine how long before someone who exited your opt-in form without submitting contact information will go before seeing it again. 

Success cookie duration will determine how long before someone who submitted contact information will go before seeing it again. 

Inside of the opt-in form to the right, click on the text "click to enter form title" to edit the text with your own heading. 

Do the same with the subheading text.

Click save in the top right corner and then click the "optin" tab in the left menu. You'll arrive on the customization screen. 

Here, you can change the look and feel of your opt-in form. 

Change template: Choose a different template for your form.
Display name field: decide whether or not you'd like to capture the name as well as the email address.
Name field placeholder text: Choose the text the end user will see so they can understand what information they're supposed to submit. For example, you may write "your first name." so people know you only want them to submit their first name.
Display phone field: decide whether you want to capture the phone number of contacts
Phone number field placeholder text: Choose the text the end user will see so they can understand what information they're supposed to submit.

Email placeholder text: Choose the text the end user will see so they can understand what information they're supposed to submit.
Email text color: What color do you want the email placeholder font to be (this also applies to the phone and name placeholder text)?
Email font: The font for your placeholder text (this also applies to the phone number and name placeholder text).
Submit button text: The call to action on the submit button.
Text color: The color of the submit button text.
Background color: The color of the call to action button.
Submit button font: The font for the call to action submit button. 

Form background: You can choose whether you want to add an image as the background or choose a color. In the example above, we chose a color.
Privacy Statement: When you toggle privacy statement on, it displays a default message "By submitting this form, you agree to our privacy policy."
Privacy link: Insert the link to your privacy policy here and it'll be clickable on your form.
GDPR: According to the GDPR regulation, you'll need to tell people exactly what they're signing up for. If you want to send them more emails after they download your lead magnet, you'll need to inform them. When you toggle this option on, it dispays a checkbox on your opt-in form. It needs to be clicked before people can submit their information.
GDPR Text: This is the placholder/explanatory textfor your GDPR checkbox.

The image above is what a customized form may look like.
When you're done, click save. 

After you've finished customizing, click the "success" tab in the left menu. 

Here, you have the option of choosing what happens after someone submits their contact information.

Either redirect them to a specific page or show a custom success message. 

When done, save and click on the "display options" in the left menu. 

On this page, you can choose how and when your opt-in form appears.

After x seconds: This option allows to you delay the appearance of your opt-in forms for a set number of seconds.
Visitor browsing specific pages: This allows you to determine which pages your form is visible on. If you set up this option your forms will only appear on those pages even if you embed it on another page.
There are multiple settings under this option:

  • Is the homepage: form will only appear on your homepage
  • Is not the homepage: Can appear on every page except the homepage
  • Exactly matches: This option makes sure your form only appears on specific URLS
  • Is any page: This option allows you to choose all the pages your form can appear on that contains the URL. For example, if you have a blog folder, and all your posts contain /blog/example then you can add here and you can embed the form on all your blog post pages. 

After scrolling x amount: This is a percentage value. Your form appears after a user has scrolled a certain percentage of the page.
Visitors with a specific URL parameter: When you have extra query argulemts on your URL like The form will only appear when the URL matches those conditions. You will only add ?utm_source=kyleads in the field. 

After you've finished setting your dispay options, save and click the integrations tab in the left menu. 

Here, you'll be able to select a speific list or tag from your email marketing service which you previously integrated. If you've not done so already then read this article for instructions.  

Once you've selected the integration you'd like to use, click add new and save your work. 

You're all done, click publish to send your form live. 

Click the KyForm menu option to get your embed code which you can use on your website.

That's it, you've successfully created your first opt-in form.
